8:30am            Centering Prayer, followed by breakfast at a nearby café

12-12:30pm     Quaker Meeting for Worship

4pm                 The Art and Practice of Meditation

This week we will learn about the practice of Centering Prayer from Doug Spears. Doug participates in the weekly Centering Prayer group that meets every Wednesday at 8:30am at the Spiritual Life Center.

Thursday

12:05-12:55    Faculty and Staff–Beginning Yoga

5pm                 Eucharist/Communion followed by

5:30pm            Free meal and discussion–Beloved Community, Building an Interfaith Community of Compassion. This week we will be discussing the eighth chapter of Karen Armstrong’s book Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life titled: How Should We Speak to One Another?

11am-2pm       The PSU Interfaith Leadership Team presents:

Building Bridges—Come Celebrate Diverse backgrounds and cultures!

SMSU Room 338—the Vanport Room

Take a break in your day, and enjoy a chance to connect with one another!  The purpose of the Building Bridges event is to bring together people of different cultures, backgrounds, faiths (or absence of faith) through music, food, fun, games and dialogue. Each group will have a table to showcase the music, art, food and information about their group. The Interfaith Leadership team began in the fall of 2011 to increase community, compassion and opportunities for service and social justice among people of faith and non faith on the PSU campus.

This week meditation class participant Edgar will be teaching us about the healing affects of meditation.  Next week join us to learn from Doug Spears about Centering Prayer.

Hello friends of the Spiritual Life Center! 

I can’t believe this amazing hot weather we are getting!  I hope you are enjoying the sun, and finding some shade as well!  May your day be filled with joy and delight in the beauty surrounding you.

This week we are excited to welcome our visiting consultant Kevin Ford from North Carolina.  Kevin will be meeting with students, faculty, staff and board members listen to what vision our community has for the future of the Spiritual Life Center.  There will be a number of focus groups meeting over the week, and Kevin will also be visiting some of our programs.

This week Carol Joy will be teaching the meditation/prayer practice of Lectio Divina—or Divine reading– that comes from the Benedictine tradition.

Bring your hiking boots, and use your lunch break as a chance to stretch your legs, breathe in some fresh air and enjoy the hilly neighborhoods of the West Hills above PSU.  Jeff Wright will lead us on a 30 min. walk starting at the Spiritual Life Center at PSU.
